Some information for those who don’t know how sponsorship works and who knows, might be interested ...
Sponsorship, in this context, consists in bringing financial support to people through an association. The elements given below correspond to the way of running of the association “Un enfant par la main” which is approved by the “Comité de la charte pour le don en confiance” and which I am a member of. There can be some differences here and there for other associations.
Here is how it works:
- You sponsor a child in a continent or country of your choice.
- Each month you pay €22 intended to finance a project your godchild is registered for.
- You can send a gift intended to your godchild only. This amount of money will be spent there, according to your wish (present, clothes, school stationery ...) to take part in the local economy.
- You correspond by mail with your godchild through the project (no direct sending).
The points of trust:
- You receive an annual report on the spending of the project and on the school and health follow-up of your godchild.
- In the mails, the costs, item by item, of the things bought with the money sent are stated (that’s what I can see).
- The association “Un enfant par la main” is referenced on the Unicef site and is frequently checked.
- My visit in Sri Lanka allowed me to see by myself how professional and rigourous, the CCF, partner of “Un enfant par la main”, are for the management of these sponsorships.
